Programs and initiatives
ICESTEM 2027 is the planned conference described above. The program areas below describe the Centre’s development framework; they are not announcements of open calls or scheduled activities. Delivery dates, coordinators, participation requirements, and any fees will be published only after approval.
Multidisciplinary Research Exchange
A facilitated discussion series in which researchers would examine a shared question from different disciplinary perspectives. The emphasis would be on comparing methods, identifying gaps in evidence, and deciding whether a joint research question is sufficiently defined to pursue.
Intended participants: Researchers and practitioners from complementary fields.
Possible format and outputs: Short research presentations, moderated discussion, and a summary of questions or collaboration opportunities identified by the group.
Research Methods and Scholarly Practice Workshops
Practical sessions on designing research questions, choosing appropriate methods, interpreting findings, and communicating limitations. Sessions could also address reproducible workflows, responsible use of digital tools, and preparation of research manuscripts.
Intended participants: Early-career researchers and researchers working across disciplinary boundaries.
Possible format and outputs: Guided exercises and discussion of examples, supported by workshop notes or reusable planning materials.
Early-Career Research Forum
A structured setting for doctoral candidates and early-career researchers to discuss work in progress, explain their methods to a mixed audience, and receive constructive questions. The forum would focus on research development rather than competitions or awards.
Possible format and outputs: Short presentations, peer discussion, and a record of feedback to help participants refine their next research steps.
Research-to-Practice Dialogues
Focused conversations about how research findings could inform a practical problem in technology, health, education, or sustainability. Contributors would distinguish tested evidence from assumptions and consider the conditions needed for an approach to work in another setting.
Intended participants: Researchers, educators, practitioners, and organizations with a clearly defined question.
Possible format and outputs: Case-based discussions and short evidence summaries outlining findings, limitations, and questions for further study.
Proposing an activity
To discuss one of these directions, send a brief enquiry describing the topic, intended audience, suggested format, and your role. An enquiry does not confirm a place, funding, or a partnership. See collaboration enquiries.
Scholarly output types are described under publications and research outputs.
